About this site
VEX Ontario (vexontario.ca) is a public archive of Ontario VEX Robotics Competition award records, operated by the CanSTEAM Foundation. The site is a static publication — there are no accounts, logins, or forms that collect personal information from visitors.
What we collect
- Product analytics via PostHog. We use PostHog (hosted at us.i.posthog.com) to understand how the archive is used — which pages are viewed, session length, and general device and browser information. PostHog sets a cookie to attribute repeat visits to a single anonymous session, and uses your IP address for approximate geolocation (country and city level). We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties.
- No advertising trackers. We do not embed Google Analytics, Meta pixels, or other advertising or ad-attribution pixels.
- Hosting logs. Our host (Cloudflare Pages) keeps standard server logs — IP address, user agent, request path, timestamps — for abuse prevention, rate limiting, and uptime monitoring. These logs are retained per Cloudflare's standard policy.
To opt out of PostHog tracking, enable Do Not Track in your browser, or use a content blocker that blocks us.i.posthog.com. The rest of the site will continue to work normally.
Third-party content
Some pages embed or link to third-party services:
- YouTube (livestream videos)
- Google Maps (venue location links)
- Google Forms (team, judge, and volunteer sign-up links)
- RobotEvents.com (source of competition records)
- Payment providers (when sponsorship registration is enabled)
When you click a link or an embedded component loads, those services receive information from your browser and apply their own privacy policies. We do not share additional data with them beyond what your browser sends automatically.
Award and team information
The award records published here — team numbers, team names, organization names, and award titles — are sourced from public competition results on RobotEvents.com and event host publications. These records relate to teams, not individuals.
